I have run into an issue with the subbox subhalo list for TNG50-1 subbox 2. This is my scenario:
I have two subhalos which are the main and next progenitor of subhalo 11 in snapshot 99 (3599). The subbox subhalo list suggests that the minimum subbox snapshot this subhalo appears in is 121, and it persists until the end of the simulation, snapshot 3599. The progenitors I'm looking at merge in snapshot 2183, so if I'm understanding these fields correctly they should be within the subbox volume at this time. However, when I plot the stellar density of this region I come up with an empty plot. After plotting the progenitor's BH positions on the entire subbox volume, I now see they appear to lie outside of the subbox.
I have also compared the full-box snapshot data using the web API, and the progenitor's BH positions are in good agreement with the subbox subhalo list's 'SubhaloPos' field. Can someone explain what may be going on here? Am I misinterpreting the SubhaloMinSBSnap and SubhaloMaxSBSnap fields?

Possibly then enter, and then exist, the subbox?
You could plot their positions vs time, and overplot the (fixed) subbox boundaries, to get a sense.

Yes, I thought initially if the snapshot of interest was between SubhaloMinSBSnap and SubhaloMaxSBSnap, then the subhalo would be present for that snapshot range. I have found out that this may not be the case though, and I am going to do exactly that plot the subhalo positions versus time with the subbox boundaries. Thank you!
